Very little is known of these elusive hubs. Consensus is split between being part of the “Sport” group (model 1006/A) or the “Sportman” group, both produced from roughly 1960-1963. Both are situated between Record & Gran Sport. They feature a one piece alloy shell/flanges, and the same axle as the Record hub, where the otherwise similar Gran Sport has a 3-piece design with pressed on flanges and a cheaper axle. The center shell is the Campy winged wheel logo, with the Campagnolo name printed below. Flanges are more of a mid flange than high flange, measuring 68mm diameter vs the NR high flange’s 75mm. The locknuts are stamped “62”, indicating a 1962 build date. These hubs should have appeared in Campagnolo Catalog 14, but they are not present.
**Some numbnuts cut the rear hub out of it’s rim without first removing the freewheel. I put in minimal effort to remove it, as I did not want to damage the hub. If you want these for display, they look pretty nice with the Regina Gran Sport Corse 5 speed freewheel on it (missing small cog). If you want to ride them, there are many methods of removing stuck freewheels including a strong grip on a strap wrench, building a wooden clamp to secure the flanges without bending them, partially building the wheel, etc. This is up to you, I am not removing it.**
Condition
Front hub is excellent or better used condition, rear is great to excellent used condition with the exception of above mentioned stuck freewheel. Both axles are very smooth and well adjusted. Flanges are straight. Front hub looks awesome, with a pretty nice polish and clear logo. Almost no spoke wear. Shell does have some marks in the finish, but all are fairly light. Rear hub could use a polish, and the logo isn’t quite as pronounced (maybe it’ll stand out better once polished?).
