This is a 1958 (identified by the “58” date stamp inside axle end nuts) Campy Gran Sport hub, with it’s original “Open C” quick release skewer. The flanges are alloy and highly drilled, pressed onto a steel center shell. These are distinguished from the later Nuovo Tipo hubs by the extra small drillings on the flanges as well as the Tipo being a one piece design.
For some reason, when these pop up on Ebay they’re more often than not hub shells only, with no axle. This one is complete and ready to be built up!
Condition
Very good to great used shape. Spindle is buttery smooth and well adjusted. Flanges look great, with light marks and a bit of spoke hole wear. Hub shell has some chrome loss, but no rust. Quick release looks pretty nice, with the only negative being some light yellowing (corrosion? staining?) around the font. It’s not quite as bad in person, the photos accent the discoloring. Cam body in excellent condition, lever operates smoothly. Threads spin smooth.
